Triple chocolate raw frosted brownies

Sometimes when I speak to people about how I’ve changed my diet they become very concerned, and ask me how I can possibly survive without chocolate or comfort food. I like it when this happens, as it gives me a chance to explain that healthy and nutritious food can most certainly tick all the boxes when you’re feeling in need of a pick me up. Continue reading

Magical matcha cacao swirl tarts

I’ve got a serious case of ‘matcha mania’ at the moment. My obsession started back in April when Mr H and I visited Japan – you can literally get matcha flavoured EVERYTHING out there – and by the time I left I was totally hooked. For anyone unfamiliar with the stuff, matcha is essentially powdered green tea leaves, but because you actually consume the leaves (which is where many of the antioxidants are) rather than throwing them away as you would with a teabag, it’s heaps more powerful as well as being much more concentrated. Four ingredient chocolate chip cookie dough bites

There’s something ever so naughty about cookie dough. Perhaps it’s because you know that you should just put it ALL in the oven, but resisting the urge to eat half the raw mixture is about as easy as a week long juice cleanse. Or maybe it’s because you’re one of those people who likes to pick the cookie dough chunks out of their Haagen Dazs (pardon our French) while no one is looking.

Either way, there’s some very negative connotations around the stuff, but I’m happy to tell you that you CAN have your cake (well, cookie dough) and eat it. My raw cookie dough bites are made of only four ingredients, are super easy to make and are incredibly delicious. And GUILT FREE!  Continue reading

Half-baked banana balls

Half-baked, nutty and bananas. If you are what you eat, then Mr D and Mr H would probably say we’ve been overdoing it a little on these. And they would probably be right!

These beauties are the perfect snack – packed with slow-release energy, good fats and tonnes of vitamins and minerals, they are so easy to pop into your lunch box and take to work for a teatime pick-me-up. They are also so easy to pop into your mouth, which is where most of ours seem to end up.

Throw away the ‘smack’ bars – my hunger-busting apple pie granola bars

The scene is set – it’s 11am in a busy office, you’re trying to press on with your to do list, but your concentration is waning and your colleagues are not enjoying the awkward soundtrack provided by your rumbling tummy.
You just need a quick fix. Anything will do. One of said colleagues offers you a Nutrigrain or a Special K bar. That’s healthy right? You readily accept and scuttle back to your desk.

Easy peasy four ingredient energy balls

When I started off on my healthy eating journey I was very scared. How would I survive? What would I eat for snacks? I scoured the supermarkets, literally putting my money where my mouth was and spent a fortune on healthy energy bars. It didn’t take long for me to realise I was racking up the big bucks, so instead I started racking our brains as to how I could recreate my fave snacks in the comfort of my own home. After a little bit of experimenting I had the answer. Now I’m bringing you the easiest, yummiest energy balls you could ever wish to taste! And they only have FOUR ingredients! None of this scouring health food shops for oddly-named seeds and powders, your local supermarket should have all of the ingredients (and if not, well aisle be damned. Sorry.) Continue reading
