Banana and date flapjacks


I used to love those trays of flapjacks they sell in supermarkets, back when I was young and apparently rather naive. You see I always used to think that the tray of flapjacks was the healthier option, because in my head it was just oats and oats are good for you. So it was ok to eat the whole tray, right? Wrong. Magical matcha cacao swirl tarts 


I’ve got a serious case of ‘matcha mania’ at the moment. My obsession started back in April when Mr H and I visited Japan – you can literally get matcha flavoured EVERYTHING out there – and by the time I left I was totally hooked. For anyone unfamiliar with the stuff, matcha is essentially powdered green tea leaves, but because you actually consume the leaves (which is where many of the antioxidants are) rather than throwing them away as you would with a teabag, it’s heaps more powerful as well as being much more concentrated. Four ingredient carrot cake balls


Mr H and I are having building work done at the moment, and although we are so excited for the end result, the last few weeks have certainly been a challenge. We’ve fought (and lost) many battles against dust, we’ve had to wash our dishes in the bathroom sink (gross) and our lounge currently looks like a jumble sale threw up on it. The other day we had a powercut. Mr H tried to fix it by swearing at the fuse box, but this didn’t seem to work. Magically the builders fixed it within five minutes the next day (they have superpowers I swear) but I’m now taking matters into my own hands just in case it happens again. Continue reading
