Peanut butter & jam pancakes

I can’t even begin to explain how much I love peanut butter – it’s honestly my favourite food ever. So when I found out about peanut flour (which has much less fat than peanut butter but tastes equally as yummy) I was dying to create something delicious with it.

Given that it’s almost pancake day (not that we need an excuse to have pancakes, they’re a bit of a weekend special in our house these days) what could be more perfect than peanut butter pancakes? I’m drooling just thinking about them.  Continue reading

Four ingredient acai bowl

Acai bowls are taking the world by storm – and for very good reason. Give me a breakfast that looks like a sorbet and tastes like a sorbet, but is actually amazingly good for you and well, I’m sold. I’ll admit that here at D&H we are perhaps a little late to the acai bowl party as it seems people have been going mad for these for some time now, but we’re definitely making up for lost time!

Berrylicious baked oats

When it’s chilly outside, I always need something warming to stoke up my little fire in the mornings and keep me going until lunchtime (ok until elevenses maybe). I’m a massive porridge lover, but sometimes it’s nice to spice things up a bit and make something a little different. Continue reading

My ‘no need for a slogan’ chocolate granola

You’re in the cereal aisle at the supermarket. There are boxes upon boxes of brightly coloured cereals, and it’s all terribly overwhelming. Pop!’, ‘have you had your Weetabix’ –  all of them that is apart from one little unassuming packet in the corner. The oats.  Continue reading

Gloriously good granola

When people used to tell me they made their own granola, in my head they were instantly elevated to the dizzy heights of domestic goddess – I mean who has the time to bake their own granola, and also how the hell do you make it?
Well things sure have changed since then and I’ll tell you something – you can knock up a huge batch of granola that will last you all week in less than half an hour. And it’s really easy. And you’ll look like a regular Bree Van der Camp to all your friends and fam. Winning. Continue reading

Chai spiced coconut quinoa pudding

When I was little, my Grandma used to make the most delicious rice pudding in the world, ever. It was so creamy, sweet and comforting, and to this day just the smell of warm rice pudding evokes the most treasured childhood memories. And I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one – just about everyone I speak to has a story to tell about the time travelling powers of rice pudding. Continue reading

Throw away the ‘smack’ bars – my hunger-busting apple pie granola bars

The scene is set – it’s 11am in a busy office, you’re trying to press on with your to do list, but your concentration is waning and your colleagues are not enjoying the awkward soundtrack provided by your rumbling tummy.
You just need a quick fix. Anything will do. One of said colleagues offers you a Nutrigrain or a Special K bar. That’s healthy right? You readily accept and scuttle back to your desk.
