Everything tastes better coated in chocolate – fact. Especially strawberries. These raw chocolate covered strawberries are such a fabulous little dish to serve your dinner party guests over an after dinner coffee (or fresh mint tea in my case) and they look really impressive too, but they won’t take you more than five minutes to prepare!
They’re also an awesome addition to any Valentine’s Day dinner too if you’re like me and you’re veto-ing going out for dinner on Feb 14th. I’m also partial to eating a plate of these on a Sunday afternoon while vegging out in front of the TV, which is fine as they’re one of your five a day AND raw chocolate is packed with antioxidants. So in conclusion I guess you don’t really need an excuse to make these, you just need a handful of ingredients and off you go!
Ingredients
- 300g strawberries
- 1/2 cup cacao butter
- 3 tbsp cacao powder
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 cup toasted chopped hazelnuts (optional)
Simply melt the cacao butter in a saucepan, then stir in the cacao powder and maple syrup. That’s the chocolate done! Now dip the strawberries in the chocolate and roll in the toasted chopped hazelnuts if you fancy a little nutty crunch, then pop them on a plate and leave in the fridge for 10 minutes to set. Et voila – a super quick, super delicious and super impressive dessert.
