January. The month after the most fun month of the year. Many of us are feeling like perhaps we overdid it a little during the festive season, and I’m not just talking about food (and alcohol). Money seems to weirdly disappear into some crazy Christmas vortex between 24th December and 1st January, and we end up wondering where it all went. In my case Christmas sales are often to blame, for Mr H his patronage of many a London pub sees to it that we are both equally broke come the beginning of January.
It’s not REALLY the best way to start the year is it? Feeling sluggish, tired and lacking in funds doesn’t inspire buckets of positivity, but this is where our detoxifying green smoothie comes in. Not only is it guaranteed to a) detox, b) nourish, c) hydrate and d) energise, but it’s also really cheap to make so it won’t break the (already fragile) bank.
I don’t really believe in New Year’s resolutions, but I do believe in fresh starts and this smoothie will definitely help set you up for a healthy beginning to 2016. So pour your glass half full, and you’ll be feeling better in no time!
Ingredients
- 1 banana, peeled and sliced
- 1 apple, cored and chopped into quarters
- 1 cup spinach
- 1/2 cup cucumber
- Juice of 1/2 a lemon
- 750ml water
- Optional: 1/2 tsp superfood powder (we used Indigo Herbs Organic Supergreens Powder)
Simply pop the ingredients into your blender and whizz for a minute or so until smooth! Pour into your glass and get detoxifying!
Love, Mrs H xx
What are the pretty flowers that you’ve used to decorate?
