These make me feel like a bit of a magician. I imagine the monkey from Coco Pops feels the same as I guess it’s the same kind of science; pop in something chocolatey, add some milk and stir to make your milk all chocolatey too. Except these are way better than Coco Pops in my opinion.
The hot chocolate cubes (or whatever shape you choose) can be made in advance and kept in the freezer for upto two months, so whenever you fancy a frozen hot chocolate all you need to do is grab a couple from the freezer, add your milk and stir away!
They make for such a decadent and delicious drink and it’s a lovely one to impress people with too! I love this as adding water to frozen drinks can make them end up being a bit watery once it melted but of course as the cubes aren’t made of water they chill the drink but flavour it too!
Ingredients
Makes enough cubes for two drinks
- 90g your favourite chocolate
- 2/3 cup milk of choice
- 1 tbsp cacao powder
- 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
- Milk of choice, to top up with
Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a saucepan with two inches of water in on a low heat, stirring gently, then once melted add in the other ingredients and stir well.
Spoon into moulds and freeze for four hours or longer, then pop half of the cubes into a glass, top up with your milk of choice and stir well. The cubes will melt into your drink and you’ll have frozen hot chocolate perfection!
