Cherry chocolate smoothie bowl

Call me crazy, but I’ll go for a smoothie bowl any season of the year. Quite often I’ll go to the gym first thing in the morning, so I find that a delicious bowl of yumminess not only cools me down, but also rehydrates me and fuels me up for the morning.

I’m not in the habit of creating elaborate smoothie bowl masterpieces, but when the lovely people at Raw Halo and Spoon Cereals sent me some of their delicious products to use I wanted to make something a little bit pretty. I’m a massive fan of chocolate and cherry at the moment, in fact I’m a little disappointed in myself for not realising how amazing the combination was earlier, so I guess I’m making up for lost time in that department. Plus you can buy frozen cherries all year round in most supermarkets, which is great as you can keep them in your freezer and chuck them into your smoothies as and when without worrying too much about best before dates, not to mention you don’t have to take the cherry stones out either!

This bowl is not only delicious but full of goodness too. Loads of vitamins, antioxidants and healthy fats, and you can even add in some protein powder too if you want to up the protein content a little more. Just don’t forget to top it with all your favourite things and make it into a fully fledged bowl of dreams!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen cherries
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/2 a ripe avocado
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 3 medjool dates
  • 1 tbsp cacao powder
  • Simply combine the ingredients in a blender and whizz for a minute or so until smooth. Pour into a bowl and top with all your favourite toppings; I love strawberries, bananas, Raw Halo chocolate and Spoon Cereals granola!
